Gidday, my name is Edward and I am a Foreign Trainer in Shanghai 7. It has been nearly 3 years since I joined Wall Street in the summer of 2008. I have to say during that time, it was a real turning point in my life. Not only had I joined one of the most renowned training centre in the world, I also packed my self up and got married. To be exact, I got married when I was still in probation and yes, everything fell into place eventually.
I came to China from New Zealand 6 years ago, and started my first year teaching career in JiangXi province. After that I never wanted to go back to New Zealand and a decision was made to stay here in China. My family background is actually Chinese and I had spent most of my life growing up in New Zealand.
When I mention the country New Zealand, I am sure everyone would think of Lord of the Ring and the breath-taking landscapes and sceneries there. Yes I do like to admit New Zealand is a beauty, however I am a man who likes noise and fun and here I am, I end up here in Shanghai China.
I had had 4 years of teaching experience before I joined WSE. But that didn’t mean I was a good teacher. Not until I joined the training in JinMao centre had I realized teaching can be this fun and yet at the same time, effective. I was overwhelmed by this method and set up and going to work everyday is like going to kindergarten to play games.
Maybe for most people when they walk into their office, it is reminded of nothing but another paycheck and another day in a big city. For me, wow, you get paid to actually share your knowledge, play fun games, and guide someone to their opportunities.
My life in Shanghai has been great, we have a great bunch in the service team that is led by the very Galen Hodgson. The beautiful sales team is led by Shanghai’s most beautiful CD Ms Angela Wang. What do I have to complain about? Nothing.
It is said that Shanghai 7 is the smallest centre in China or is it in the world. But I do not think this is something negative. Actually I am pretty proud to say I am working in one of the smallest Wall Street centre in the world. Shanghai 7 is like a family, people here take care of one and another. Honestly I have no dodgy feelings about everyone regardless students or the janitor ladies. Everyone here loves everyone else. Especially the students, they are more like a family member than your pupils or clients.
Last of all I would like to say a word of thanks to WSE that gave me the opportunity to be part of you. Thank you.
